Snipe Dales Nature Reserve and Country Park
Snipe Dales Nature Reserve and Country Park, near Horncastle, offer a wide range of educational programmes for all ages amongst its varied habitats. The Country Park area covers over 90 acres of mixed coniferous and broadleaved woodland. There are also a number of man-made and natural ponds linked by a stream. A large number of pathways allow access throughout the park, some of which are designed for the less able walker.
The Nature Reserve area is one of the few remaining semi-natural wet valleys in Lincolnshire. Covering over 130 acres of grassland the reserve is home to a number of important plants and animals. The River Lymn also starts its journey down towards the River Steeping and out to The Wash at this point. Snipe Dales is managed in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council.

Education Services at Snipe Dales
With the completion of the Education and Community Action Project (ECAP) the funds available to support environmental education at Snipe Dales have regrettably ceased. The consequences of this are that from December 2005 there will be no Education Officer available to lead groups, provide activities and resources at the site.
The Trust is aware of the benefits of providing accessible environmental education opportunities at Snipe Dales and is looking at developing a new project that will secure funds to continue the excellent work achieved during the ECAP project.
School groups can visit Snipe Dales without being accompanied by a Trust Education Officer. Such visits require the consent of the Warden, please contact the Trust for a permit form.
If you have any further questions please contact the Trust.
