60th Anniversary Appeal The Wildlife Trusts

Please help us to Safeguard Wild Lincolnshire

See the Anniversary Appeal page for more information about restoring fenland and coastland in Lincolnshire - the most challenging large-scale 'living landscape' project the Wildlife Trust has undertaken.

From a very small beginning 60 years ago the Trust has made notable progress in safeguarding Lincolnshire's wildlife and wild places. Stretches of coast, heaths, downs, meadows, ancient woods, lakes and reedbeds are all to be found in our nature reserves through the county.

The task now is to build on those achievements by further expanding our reserves to create new landscape-scale areas in which plants and animals can more readily adapt to the effects of climate change which threatens all wildlife with an uncertain future. We have already expanded several of our reserves by re-creating habitat - on Croftmarsh at Gibraltar Point, Far Ings, Kirkby Moor and Red Hill, for example - and this year we are enlarging reserves at Moor Closes, at Ancaster and at Ashing Lane at Dunholme together with a new reserve at Tunman Wood near Whisby.

Now generous grant-aid from national and local sources has enabled us to undertake the exciting fenland re-creation project described on the "Anniversary Appeal" page. We also have an equally important opportunity to safeguard another precious piece of Lincolnshire's coastline adjoining existing reserves. Our ability to secure this area and to ensure the development of the new fenland reserve depends on our ability to raise the necessary funds.

Out nature reserves are vital not only for sustaining Lincolnshire's natural heritage, but also for the pleasure and interest which they give to many thousands of visitors of all ages for whom the Trust provides information services and educational opportunities.

In this 60th Anniversary year, therefore, we are making a rare special Appeal to members and supporters for extra help. Please give as generously as you are able to do. All donations of whatever size will be warmly welcomed.

Thank you.
